Created for a Relationship
Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Adam was formed by God’s own hands and received life through His breath. He wasn’t just made to live – he was made to walk in a relationship with his Creator.
It’s More Than Just a Word: Relationship
Webster’s 1828 Insight defines “relationship” as the state of being connected by kindred, affinity, or mutual correspondence.” This means a relationship is indicative of a deep connection. In Bible terms: It speaks of the bond we are invited to have with God. It is not based on rules, but reverence, love, and grace.
Relationship is Proven by Presence
James 4:8 says, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” A real relationship requires time together. Just like a friendship or marriage, your relationship with Jesus grows the more time you spend with Him.
For example: A believer sets aside quiet time daily to read, pray, and listen to God – even when busy. If you only reach for your Bible when life is falling apart or there’s an emergency, do you really have a close relationship with Him?
Reflection:
How do you prioritize time with God in your current season of life?
